Can DNA predict your heart health?

Treatment Checklist

Find out through the Sylva Biobank

Millions of people live with the uncertainty of how heart disease runs in their families. The Sylva Biobank represents a new path. By collecting genetic and health information from more than one million participants, we're creating a resource to match people with precision medicine for heart disease.

the right treatments
for the right patients
at the right time

For families who have watched loved ones suffer from heart disease, this research offers the ability to intervene before disease strikes.

This isn't just about collecting data; it’s about giving families the resources to overcome their genetic risk, and ensure future generations don't face the same health challenges.

Important study information

This is a research study, not medical care.

  • The study collects health and genetic information, including genetic samples (cheek swab) and medical record data.

  • You may receive a genetic result called a polygenic risk score (PRS) for coronary artery disease.

  • You may be invited to participate in future research opportunities that align with your health profile.

  • Prior to joining the study, you must review and sign the full consent form.

  • To participate and receive your results, you will need to create an online account with Sylva.

Important considerations

The Biobank is a minimal risk research study.

Risks include:

  • Privacy and security risk: Online data sharing involves standard digital privacy risks, despite our industry-standard security measures.

  • Emotional risk: Learning about genetic risk may also cause worry or distress. Genetic counseling is available to help.
